Walking with God in Nature Prayer Day Werribee Gorge
October 26 at 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Kew, Victoria 3101 Australia
This is an opportunity for you to spend some reflective time walking in silence within a faith community in Nature. It offers you the experience of listening to God speaking to you in Nature. A time for guided reflection and contemplation whilst walking in nature
Participants will gather at 10 am at the Quarry Picnic Area car park about half a kilometre beyond the entry gate. From there we will walk uphill (some parts steep: Grade – 3/4 medium/hard) through dry eucalypt forest along the Werribee Gorge Circuit to a couple of lookout points. After morning tea we return to the cars by the same way and drive down to the Meikles Point Picnic area. From there we walk along the Werribee River (upstream: Grade 1 – easy) and back again. At the end of the day participants will reflect on and share their experience of the contemplative walk. We will depart the Park by 4 pm.
Please note there are toilets only at the two car parks mentioned. You are advised to bring snack food, 2 litres of water, and your lunch. Depending on the weather you will need light clothing (hot weather) and a rain jacket (for cold, wet weather), and in all weather sturdy walking boots.
Werribee Gorge State Park is at the end of Myers Road approximately 8km west of Bacchus Marsh via the Western Freeway and Pentland Hills Road. It takes about 1 hour to get there from Melbourne.
“In every walk in Nature one receives far more than he seeks. Take a walk to feed the soul.” (John Muir)
